Mark McMorris
One of the most decorated athletes in the history of snowboarding, Mark McMorris is the owner of three Olympic bronze medals, four U.S. Open Championship titles and a mind-blowing 22 X Games medals. But more than the hardware, it’s the man’s ability to grind through adversity and still shine on the world’s biggest stages that define him.
The first person to land a backside triple-cork 1440, McMorris was just getting started back in 2011. The following winter he became only the second athlete in history to win two gold medals in the same X Games.
In an ever-progressing sport, 12 years after winning his first X Games medal, McMorris has carved out some serious icon status for himself. His passion to ride powder led him to an invite to the first Natural Selection Tour stop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he topped the podium. Focusing on the backcountry has become more than a passion, McMorris has dedicated his life to progressing the sport in a natural backcountry environment.
Slush Magazine’s 2023 Rider of the Year, McMorris is a social media presence and over the years has dutifully represented Burton, Oakley, Nike, Red Bull, Toyota, Subway and more. When he’s not chasing powder, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, surfing, skateboarding, golfing and living life to the absolute fullest.
