SAWYER LINDBLAD
Hailing from San Clemente, the hotbed of Californian competitive surf talent, Sawyer Lindblad spent the bulk of her adolescent years at the wave-rich cobblestones of Lower Trestles, sparring with a stellar peer group and polishing her natural talent in the process.
Sawyer and her older brother, Taj, are poised to follow in the footsteps of some of the sport’s brightest stars, drawing comparisons to legendary local surf families like the Andinos, Fletchers, and Colapintos. After dominating competitively at the junior and amateur levels, Lindblad recorded her greatest win to date: taking victory at the 2023 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, and on the back of that, qualifying for the prestigious WSL Championship Tour at just 18 years of age.
Sawyer has stamped her mark in San Clemente’s storied surf history by becoming the first female surfer from the city to qualify for the world tour since the 1980s. Sawyer is a cornerstone in the youthful contingent of women who are progressing the sport at an incredibly rapid pace, and with her sights set on winning a world title and representing her country in the Olympic Games, you can bet that she will keep breaking down the boundaries of women’s surfing in the years to come.
With her ambition and talent matched by genuine kindness and warmth, Sawyer is a role model both in and out of the water and a leader in the making.
